The Beyonce Experience

Ok, so last week I had the most amazing experience of my life. I wanted to blog about it while it was fresh in my mind so I’d always have it to remember. My idol since I was 11 years old has been this lady, Beyonce Knowles.

It’s not only her amazing talent that I find inspiring but also how humble she is and giving. She donates lots of her hard earned cash to charities and is constantly overlooked for this.

I travelled for 5 hours to Nottingham from my little town of Aberdare with my friend Lauren. Now the furthest I’ve driven is Devon and that was with someone from Devon directing me so at least someone knew where we were going. This time I only had the woman on the sat nav directing me and the last time I used her I ended up in a quarry being told I’d reached my destination…. I hadn’t.

We got to the hotel and went for grub at a local pub before heading back to get ready. Now as sad as this may seem, I’d actually seen a photo of Beyonce wearing a dress from New Look in The Sun on Wednesday evening and went straight to New Look to get it for myself. So I changed into my party dress and headed over to the Trent Arena. I bought all my merch (I’m a complete merch junkie) including a programme, which disappointingly only had pictures, a poster and a t-shirt and then went and took my seat ready for the show to begin. I was quite a way back because I decided I’d rather get a seating ticket and be guaranteed a decent seat rather than have a standing ticket and perhaps be trapped behind a 7ft giant who would completely dwarf my 5ft 2 stature.

After about 9pm the lights went down and all I could hear were deafening high-pitched screams, then I realised they were coming from me. Then Beyonce came out with her voice completely in key. This woman really can do no wrong.

I’d waited 10 years for this experience and I was determined to enjoy every single second of it. Nothing was ruining this for me. Not when the guy behind me tipped his drink all over my poster and programmes, not when the girl next to me kept giving me horrible looks because I was singing so loudly – nothing.

I had an amazing time. Beyonce was incredible – not a note wrong. The concert I went to was all over the news and here and here because she announced that she was going to release another album next year. So excited! I literally queued up for her last two albums and can’t wait for this one.
